On November 30th, 2025, the Chanticleers relieved Beck of his duties as their head football coach after the Team did not finish the season as they had hoped.

Chanticleers Turn to Ryan Beard as Head Coach-in-Waiting
On December 11th, 2025, the Chanticleers announced Ryan Beard as the new head football coach. Beard has a (19-16) record with the Western Missouri Bears. During his first year with the Bears, Beard took to the Division 1 level playing in the Conference USA, finishing (7-5), bringing the Bears to the Xbox Bowl. During this season (2025-2026), he finished fifth in the Conference USA, finishing (5-3) in the conference and a (7-6) overall record. As mentioned earlier, the Chanticleers are bowl eligible this season, but Beard won’t be their head coach until the (2026-2027)season.
L.D. Scott Poised to Reshape the Chanticleer Defense
In other news, the Chanticleers' interim/defensive coordinator, Jeremiah Johnson, is leaving the Chanticleers to be the defensive backs coach at Kansas State. With Johnson leaving during his first season with the Chants, the defense recorded 18 turnovers and achieved a 45% success rate. This will be Johnson's 4th team in four years, and his departure will open the door for Beard to bring in his defensive coordinator, L.D.Scott. In his first season at Missouri State, Scott had 14 takeaways, 41 points off turnovers, 60 passes defended, and 17 sacks.
A New Staff, A New Identity for Coastal Carolina
With Johnson leaving and Scott taking over, the Chants' defense will look a lot different, and so will the offense. Coach Ryan Beard is also bringing in offensive coordinator Nick Petrino. During Petrino's time with the Bears, his offense racked up 306.2 yards per game through the air (5th nationally), 424.8 total yards per game (17th), and 34.8 points per outing. With all the coaching staff changes at the Chanticleers, will Ryan Beard be the one to elevate the program to the next level?
