WEDNESDAY NIGHT STAFF UPDATE.

As I’m putting pen to paper at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, reports out of TCI indicate that Garrett Riley is out as Clemson’s offensive coordinator. I just got off the phone with my contact, and at this moment he does not know the lead candidate for the job—or even if Garrett is officially out.

He put it plainly, “When dabo makes a staff move he already knows who hes going to get when the move is made. He usually keeps things pretty close to the chest until a deal is done. So I would not believe anything said until a move is made.”

He’s not insisting a staff change hasn’t occurred; he’s simply laying out what he knows right now. As I reported last night, there remains a very strong possibility that Garrett will be out, but as of tonight I haven’t heard that.

I still believe there’s a world where Garrett returns next year and has his pick at quarterback—whether from the portal or from the current list of QBs. A lot of things are swirling around Clemson, and I’ll make sure to check back in here.
