Cheraw bests Conway in low-scoring affair

The Conway Tigers hit the road this week, looking for their first win of the 2025 season as they took on the Cheraw Braves in Cheraw. The Tigers, coming off a 28-7 loss to Loris last Friday night, came into this game looking for anything to build on to get the Tigers' season going in the right direction. The Braves are also coming off a 27-20 gritty loss to the Marlboro County Bulldogs. This game was a low-scoring defensive battle all 48 minutes that saw the Cheraw Braves take down the Conway Tigers.
The game:
The game was a defensive battle as both offenses struggled to put points on the board. Both of the defenses shone, as both teams forced multiple turnovers on downs. The Tigers actually forced 2 fumbles to stall out the Braves' drives in Tiger territory. However, the two rushing touchdowns that were scored by the Braves ended up being too much for the Tigers to overcome, and a late interception thrown by the Tigers proved to be costly as the Tigers continue to search for answers, and Cheraw gets a bounce-back win over Conway.
My MVP:
My MVP has to be the defense. They didn’t allow a TD through the whole game, made the conway offense really work, they forced multiple punts and turnover on downs, plus the late game interception that sealed the game. Have to give a tip of the cap to the Cheraw defense, who came to play tonight.
Where these teams go from here:
Conway will look to find their first win of the season next week as the Tigers hit the road to play at Marlboro County High for a 7:30 kickoff time.
As for the Braves, they look to build off of this win as they also hit the road next week to play the Falcons in Darlington for a 7:30 kickoff time.
