Details about the departure of Henderson
More information has surfaced regarding the abrupt departure of Marquise Henderson from the
Clemson football program. A recent report from The Post and Courier has shed light on a series
of troubling allegations involving Henderson during his time at the university.
According to the report, Henderson had multiple run-ins with law enforcement and was involved
in a heated dispute with teammates, allegedly over missed team workouts. Additionally, a police
report claims that Henderson allegedly threatened a fellow student—or possibly a
teammate—by showing a picture of a firearm, insinuating potential violence.
Sources close to the situation also suggest that Henderson had developed a reputation for
being a disruptive presence within the program. One earlier incident, which we were made
aware of several months ago, allegedly involved a late-night disturbance at his residence that
included another individual not named.
It’s important to emphasize that all of these accounts remain unconfirmed and are considered
allegations. Nonetheless, the circumstances surrounding Henderson’s departure have prompted
considerable discussion among Clemson fans. Many are now questioning the decision to bring
him into the program, particularly if coaching staff were aware of any prior concerns.
In college athletics, it's not uncommon for coaching staffs to believe they can mentor and
rehabilitate young athletes with troubled pasts. That may well have been the rationale in
Henderson’s case.
Henderson had recently announced his commitment to Liberty University, but as The Post and
Courier notes, that announcement has since been removed from his Instagram page.
